Farm
From City to Country
In 1989, my husband and I made an exciting move from city life to the country to establish the Francis Farm. Nestled on 10 acres of land, our home became a haven for various animals, flourishing gardens, and cherished family events.
Over the years, we have been fortunate enough to care for and foster a wide array of animals, including goats, a cow, chickens, horses, and even a potbelly pig. Additionally, our passion for showing dogs led us to own and train many boxers, some of which have achieved championship titles.
A Health-Driven Transformation
However, in 2013, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with cancer. This experience provided me with a new outlook on life, emphasizing the importance of healthy eating and overall well-being. Inspired by this newfound perspective, we expanded our gardens and focused on growing as much nutrient-rich produce as possible.
Furthermore, we decided to raise our own chickens, ensuring that we have a constant supply of healthy and delightful eggs for our enjoyment. Each of our animals possesses a unique personality and is treated as an integral part of our family. Our chickens, affectionately named and cherished, each exhibit their own distinct traits and characteristics.
Fun fact about Puddles.
Since my childhood, I have held a deep desire to have a pet cow. Despite years of trying to persuade my husband, he finally agreed, and that’s when I stumbled upon a cow who needed me as much as I needed her. Born on a farm in Michigan, Puddles, was in search of a new home due to her owner’s battle with cancer.
Our paths crossed, and her companionship became an integral part of my healing process. Puddles possesses a curious and inquisitive nature, often resembling that of a large dog.
She responds when called and has a fondness for treats, sometimes attempting to sit on my lap, although usually just resting her head there. One of her preferred indulgences is pumpkins, but she also enjoys lettuce, a variety of fruits, vegetables, and even pancakes.
